Download my new DJ-mix!

I finally made some new DJ-mixes yesterday. And about time too… the previous one was from 2005… Although I still perform as a DJ quite regularly, I just couldn’t seem to find the time to record a new DJ-set in my studio.

Thanks to Bart Folmer and Jean Klare needing some very danceable DJ-sets for an art installation they are working on, I was finally motivated enough to record some. Other DJ-sets used for this installation were made by Michael Fakesch and Radion. The installation is part of ‘Kunst van hier tot ginder‘ (bad website alert), a bicycle art route through Okkenbroek, Lettele, Bathmen and surroundings, which takes place 13-15 June (next weekend). Check the Kunstenlab website for some more (and better readable) info.

You can download one of my new DJ-mixes overhere (128kbps mp3).

September and October

Some dates for your calendar again…

September 22, 21.30:

minifest.jpg

MOMI-fest mini organized by Peter in ‘t Ukien, Kampen. The sequel to MOMI-fest beta 1.0. This time with Girls On Top, Oceana Company, Boutros Bubba, dj Knut Orvik and… Cette Truc.

September 28, 20.00:

toegangvrij.jpg

Opening ‘Toegang Vrij 2007′ in the old Stamacon building in Havenkwartier Deventer. Toegang Vrij is an exhibition (Deventer Salon) with 63 Deventer artists in the old Stamacon building (September 29 – October 14) and also an open atelier route in Deventer (October 6 and 7), organized by Kunstenlab and VBK. This means that besides showing some new(!) furniture work in the Stamacon building, I am also making my studio somewhat more presentable for the open atelier route in October. I’ll probably show off my more audio related work there. Like esc.rec. and (variations on?) Rockin’ Chair… and maybe some (live) music by someone somehow?

September 29, 20.00:

lesateliersclaus01.jpg

Carte Blanche night for and by Lukas Simonis in Les Ateliers Claus, Brussels, Belgium. With Uiuiui Koo, Willem Hietbrink, David Fenech, Didi de Paris, Blatnova, Die Trip Computer Die, Harry Merry, Coolhaven and… Cette truc. I’m honored to be part of such a world class line-up!

MOMI-fest beta 1.0 was great!

momifestkiek.jpg

Well, I’ve finally somewhat recovered from MOMI-fest beta 1.0 and the Havenkwartier opening festival in Havenkwartier Deventer. MOMI-fest was a big succes! The bands were great! So was the expo, the lecture and the poetry! And the audience of course!

Because George Henze could sadly not join us with his photographs, we suddenly had too much exhibition space to fill… So in a last minute decision my Rockin’ Chair also became part of the MOMI-fest exhibition, since it had just returned from the expo in Hengelo.

Cette Truc played lots of nice stuff in between live performances, although I couldn’t really focus on that as much as I would like to, due to all the organization skills needed to handle seven live bands (and their equipment) on only one stage without a backstage area ánd making sure they get drinks, food and money, ánd selling their merchandise (and esc.rec.’s), all at the same time. I made some kind of naive miscalculation of the workload that comes with covering all that territory…

After MOMI-fest beta 1.0 the dj’s took over; Brandz, Maga and Radion got them feet dancing alright! I (or was it Cette Truc) was also supposed to play along with them, but Radion was on a roll with a truly smashing dj-set and it seemed like a shame to cut him short. So instead I just danced out all the last energy I had left in me…

Anyway, I could probably ramble on about how good MOMI-fest was for a long time, but for now I’ll refrain to just showing you where you can find some pictures. In my previous post I told you I joined Flickr. There’s good reason for that. I find that Flickr’s tagging technology comes in handy for occasions like this. So now I can just point you to this link for pictures of MOMI-fest and this link for pictures of Havenkwartier Deventer.

September 1st: MOMI-fest beta 1.0!

momifest.jpg

For some time now I’ve been working together with Peter Boorsma on the realization of MOMI-fest beta 1.0, a (free!) festival loosely based on MOMI, with a touch of esc.rec. It will be a part of the official opening of Havenkwartier Deventer. The line-up is complete now, the locations and times are set, so I’m very proud to present our official press release below. Hope to see you all on the 1st of September!

MOMI-fest beta 1.0

Saturday the 1st of September, music blog My Own Music Industry (MOMI) organizes her first concert night. The programme is a joint effort by MOMI (www.myownmusicindustry.nl) and esc.rec. (www.escrec.com). Thanks to the enthusiasm of all the bands and participants involved, the programme has become quite extensive, with a crammed line-up as the inevitable consequence. Therefore the programme starts at three in the afternoon and continues non-stop till midnight.

MOMI-fest beta 1.0 mainly features a wide variety of MOMI and esc.rec. related music, but also presents design, photography and the interactive nature of a weblog in the shape of exhibitions, a lecture and interactive media.

MOMI-fest beta 1.0 is a mini-festival within the Openingsfestival Havenkwartier Deventer (www.havenkwartier.org). Havenkwartier is a cluster of work spaces for artists and small creative companies in Deventer. It is meant to become a meeting place for creatives and businesses to form new networks and collaborations.

Last year MOMI was winner of a Dutch Bloggie in the category Best Music Blog. MOMI is written by a broad variety of musicians, designers, (pop)photographers, bookers, music reviewers. In general MOMI writes about obscurities, strange phenomena and excesses within the ‘music industry’ combined with an emphasis on Dutch music.

Esc.rec. is a record label and platform for new, unknown and experimental music. Besides releasing interesting music esc.rec. organizes events to stimulate collaborations between artists, labels, organizations, venues and distributors. Esc.rec. is also a participant in Het Havenkwartier.

Line-up of MOMI-fest beta 1.0: LPG (music), Bonne Aparte (music), De Bronstgieters (music), Boutros Bubba (music), Parkside (music), Zèbra (music), Thoughts Create The World (music), Cette Truc (dj), George Henze (expo), Vormversterker (expo), Martien ter Veen (expo), Niet Voor Niets (expo), Marco Raaphorst (lecture), Jan Kleefstra (poetry).

Check the latest addition to MOMI, the MOMI-fest blog (www.myownmusicindustry.nl/momifest.php) for any new info.
