Sessionlab

Sessionlab laptopjam at WILLIE in the IJsselhotel, Deventer. Local heroes connect through their laptops and other electronic devices, I fill the gaps with sordid audio chunks. Special guest-heroes Frans de Waard (Nijmegen) and Roel Meelkop (Rotterdam) are also plugging in this time.

J’ee-haw! vs. Holodeck

Holodeck & J’ee-haw! event at Holodeck in Groningen. J’ee-haw! expo in gallery Brak with Vrienden van J’ee-haw! Galerie Prints, J’ee-haw! Remixed (with listening cabines), J’ee-haw! Compact Disc (with J’ee-haw! Audioburst and Cowboy Bodybuilder Billboard) and ZZZZ-Monument.

J’ee-haw! and Holodeck programmed performances by several J’ee-haw! remixers for the 3 year anniversary of Holodeck’s Clubplus+, which is Holodeck’s smashing club night. J’ee-haw! fitted Clubplus+ with a striped decor, similar to the J’ee-haw! trademark.

There were performances by Radboud Mens (live), Jos Smolders (live), HuMobisten feat. Der Versucher (live & dj), Toxic Chicken (live), Harco (dj), The Common People (dj), visuals by Zafari and special J’ee-haw! bites & drinks by Café De Plak.

Listen to my dj-set through VPRO 3voor12.

Jos Smolders (live) – ‘From 0-120 bpm: Everything Must Go’, a very abstract and experimental set.

Radboud Mens (live) with an extremely danceable minimal dub techno set.

Jos Smolders and Radboud Mens also improvised a live set together, a strong minimal dub techno set on acid.

Harco with a Rather Interesting vs. Nonplace dj-set.

‘Humor’ and ‘mind your own business’, that’s what it’s all about for the HuMobisten (Gyz la Rivière and Rufus.K). The HuMobisten take humor very seriously and use it to subtlely address social problems, important mondial events or remarkable social tendencies. But sometimes they just stop by a club and mix a bunch of records. Der Versucher is MP3J and plays along for this evening. They also made ‘HuMobiza 2005′, a special brand new remix of the original HuMobiza track on J’ee-haw! Remixed, including fab video and absurd but solid stage act! Check the video overhere or overhere.

Toxic Chicken with his sister Serafina Ouistiti (live) – rough electro, disturbing breakbeats and absurdistic strip act. Dare to be chicken, very pok!

The Common People, electro-pop dj’s from Maastricht.

Visuals by Zafari. Check a sample overhere (quicktime movie).

Special J’ee-haw! bites & drinks by Café de Plak: Kat’ A Klop (sandwich on a stick), Whinny (vegetarian sandwich on a stick), Sushi Á Koko (vegetarian sushi), Daltons (non-alcoholic fruit punch), T’Plan (non-alcoholic cocktail with fresh mint), Piña Colada (secret recipe!), Lucky Shot (tequila with effervescent vitamin C tablet) and so much more tasty goodies…

You could listen to a live Clubplus+ stream through www.nauticradio.net and the whole event is very well documented by VPRO 3voor12 (thank you Ron!). You can still listen to a lot of audio overhere. Photography by Jitske Annema and J’ee-haw!

On the upperdeck: the very first esc.rec. labelnight (with performances by Double, Marius, slo-fi, and dj Harco). And on the lower deck: Patricia’s Greatest Synthesizer Hits, Radioactive Man, Coparck, Geigercounting, Radion and visuals by Pixelpasta. The festival closed on Sunday evening with the swamp rock of Planet Orange.

J’ee-haw! Sunday Matinees

J’ee-haw! exhibition at WILLIE in the IJsselhotel, Deventer: Vrienden van J’ee-haw! Galerie Prints, J’ee-haw! Compact Disc (with Cowboy Bodybuilder Billboard and J’ee-haw! Audioburst), J’ee-haw! Remixed (with listening cabines), ZZZZ-monument.

The exhibition is open every Sunday, 13.00-17.00 hrs. We host five Sunday Matinees during the exhibition, with live performances by the following J’ee-haw! Remixers: Sasker Scheerder, Dion, Harco, Edwin van der Heide and Dr. Auratheft.

Sasker Scheerder @ J’ee-haw! Sunday Matinee October 17:

Passwort FM – a Secret Service: A valuable service to computerusers, allowing them to submit their most important passwords to an online database where, whithout human intervention, the passwords are translated text-into-speech and broadcasted in an hourly cycle onto a idiosyncratic radiostation. The user can localize the station and listen back his now forgotten password that was programmed to be read out at the user’s time of choice, in minutes/ seconds after the hour. For security reasons the location of the radiostation will vary regularly. Photo: Secret Console at IJsselhotel.

Dion @ J’ee-haw! Sunday Matinee October 24:

Hiphop extravaganza with Beatmaker/DJ Dion on the wheels of steel (with open mic!). Dion also creates beats for Dutch rappers Jawat! and Duvel.

Harco @ J’ee-haw! Sunday Matinee October 31:

A long, freaky, but occasionally authentic country-set, injected with experimental electronics, supported by ever faithful companion MC Hobbe.

Edwin van der Heide @ J’ee-haw! Sunday Matinee November 7:

Live performance by Edwin van der Heide, preceded by the dj-debut of Jeannette. Edwin van der Heide is working as autonomous artist in the field of sound, space and interaction. His original background is in electronic music. His current work is hard to define in the traditional terms of music, sound art or media art because he is permanently working on the edge and the characteristics of the used medium. In this sense the medium does not just mediate but is being explored, redefined, and finally composed with a musical approach involving a new communicating language. The fact that qualities of musical language are being used in development of the work does not mean that the presentation form of the work is related to the concert form known in music. The result can either be an installation, a performance or an environment.

Dr. Auratheft @ J’ee-haw! Sunday Matinee November 14:

URBI & ORBI, a sonic review. Here’s a bonus review of Dr. Auratheft’s sonic review by Rufus.K.
