Check all the info overhere. If you order real quick, you just might be one of the lucky few who gets a copy with the very, very limited handcrafted artwork by Vormversterker. But don’t get your hopes up, because most of them have already been sold at the Binnensuis performances in De Kofferbak or reserved for esc.rec. subscribers (always the first on the scene). So all you esc.rec. subscribers are in luck today, your copy is already in the mail!

Oh, and by the way, I thoroughly enjoyed working together with Vormversterker on this release. I recommend his work to anyone with the slightest sense of adventure and a feel for raw aesthetics. Check some photo’s of the production process on his Flickr page.

Also I have been informed today, that because most of the shows in De Kofferbak were way past sold out, there will be at least one bonus performance scheduled on Sunday July 1st, 16:00 hrs. I’m not sure if this show is going on the road (which I think it should!), but I wouldn’t risk it and just go there. Visit the website of De Kofferbak for reservation details.

Moving on

huis.jpg

Me and my family found a new home in Deventer! We are currently doing a lot of reconstructing and painting in the new house and plan to move in before August. It is going to be beautiful! Also, my new home address is conveniently located in the same street as my new studio.

Although we haven’t moved yet, you can safely start sending stuff to:

Mr. H. F. de Boerlaan 109
7411 AH Deventer

In progress…

In an attempt to keep you up to date, I decided to let you in on some of the things I’m working on right now…

Besides the usual webdesign assignments there are some other major projects and changes in the making.

For the last two years Bart Folmer and I have been working on the creation of a sound art project named ‘Geluid op De Brink’ (Sound on De Brink). It is going to be a seven year project in which we invite sound artists to create a specially designed sound art installation for De Brink, a large and very long square in the centre of Deventer. Bart and me will also be the artists responsible for the first installation: ‘Zee op De Brink’ (Sea on De Brink). This installation simulates the sound of actual waves moving over the complete length of De Brink. Sitting on the terraces will be like sitting on the beach… We hope to see this installation in action this summer already, but at this time we are still very much in the process of aquiring funding and support for our project. Nevertheless we have high hopes for summertime in Deventer!

Starting next week I’ll be moving into my new studio in Het Havenkwartier (for which I will also start building the new website pretty soon). My present studio under my home is fine but not really suited for dusty, messy or smelly work. This new studio is more suitable for well… making furniture for example! I’m very much looking forward to this change in working environment…

India

Next Saturday I’ll be flying to India to celebrate my sister’s wedding. I’ll stay there for only one week… so I guess I’m in for quite a culture shock, since I have never travelled outside Europe before. Exciting!

Update: I’m back. The whole experience was beautiful and weird at the same time. The culture shock kicked in heavy when I had already returned. Almost everything I experienced in India is so different from the life I know in Europe, that my memories of the whole week now resamble some kind of surreal dream collage…

esc.rec.

Starting now I will be solely responsible for esc.rec., my record label. Bart Folmer, who founded esc.rec. with me, decided it was time to call it quits and focus more on his own music. I hope you will be able to enjoy his first full release very soon now!

Also, a new website for esc.rec. is online right now. Not that the former design needed any restyling, but I was unhappy with it’s functionality. You will find some new features have been added (like the comments and the RSS feeds) and some more new functionality will follow shortly. There might still be some holes in the archives, but I’m working on completing them right now. The audio player is gone for now, but will return in some form or another…

I placed an esc.rec. feed in the right column of this website, so you can instantly see what’s going on overthere.

Ah, and of course, some new esc.rec. releases are lined up. And they are good!
