Website OE-DA!

Just finished the website for OE-DA! (Overijsselse Erfgoed Design Award). Designed the whole thing, including the OE-DA! logotype, as I mentioned earlier. The website was commissioned by KCO and uses Wordpress as a CMS.

OE-DA! logotype

I just received conformation that my logotype for OE-DA! (Overijsselse Erfgoed Design Award) has been approved by KCO. Now working on the OE-DA! website. Should be online soon.

In short the goal of OE-DA! is to offer a fresh perspective on cultural heritage in Overijssel, in order to make it more appealing to new target audiences. They do so by organizing a design award for young designers and artists, inspired by this cultural heritage. Five winners (selected by jury) get supported in the realization of  their design with 5000 euro and coaching.

Doel van ‘OE-DA!” is het met andere ogen leren kijken naar het cultureel erfgoed van Overijssel.

Rockin’ Chair in Kunstcafé Oosterwolde

Marcel Prins booked my Rockin’ Chair for (the opening of) his exhibition with Birgit Speulman and Age Hartsuiker in Kunstcafé Oosterwolde. However, I sadly can’t be present at this event myself… which feels kind of weird. To not be there, while my chair gets some action… Today Marcel came to collect Rockin’ Chair. Supposedly he has also found someone who is willing to try playing it in public. I’m hoping for some decent photo and video footage, so I can enjoy this performance later.

Open: Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st of February, 13:00-18:00 hrs.

Update: Alex Kort played my Rockin’ Chair in Kunstcafé Oosterwolde.

The Incident Room #1

Starting next week I’m working in The Incident Room, an art project initiated and curated by Patrick Mangnus. This first edition takes place in R10, Zwolle. I’m teamed up with video/sound artist Sandrijn van der Horst. Together we have two weeks (January 11-28) to work on a new piece of art in the R10 residency. After that it will be open for exhibition on January 29-31 and February 5-7, 13.00-17.00 hrs. Other participants in this edition are Jeroen Diepenmaat and Sjoukje Gootjes.

Some time ago I went to R10 to check out the place, since I had never been there. It has plenty of facilities and workspace. I aim to use this workperiod mainly for research, since R10 oozes ‘laboratory’ out of every pore. Kind of reminds me of my art academy time. Sandrijn seems to be an interesting and challenging partner in this project. I don’t know him well, but am very familiar with his work, which I selected last year when curating the Ontbos exhibition in CBK Apeldoorn.

At this point I still have no idea what we are going to do next week, but I’m very anxious to find out where this collaboration leads me!

Update 1: I’m documenting our progress on Flickr.
Update 2: There’s going to be a festive finissage on February the 7th with an introduction by Patrick Mangnus and a live performance by Bedhelm and The Stewardess.
