Tomorrow (December 8, 16:00 hrs.) I finally officially receive my Kunstenaarcoach certificate from the hands of Henk Scharp, chairman of MKB Deventer. You’re welcome to attend. Read more about what a certified Kunstenaarcoach actually does overhere.
Although I now get my official certificate on a piece of paper, I have actually been certified for some time and am currently coaching Energiekracht in Deventer.
On december 2 (19:00-23:00), Concertzender broadcasts a special live show themed around the hundredth edition of music and culture magazine Gonzo (circus). With many exclusive recordings and interviews with a selection of musicians, composers, artists and editors featured in Gonzo #100.
There’s a new esc.rec. release! Ambi is a relatively short album (call it EP if you will) by Transfolmer. The sentiment in his music almost borders the obscene and yet, this third Transfolmer album on esc.rec. holds a rare quality; it’s timeless. It could have been made years ago or yesterday, who knows. This album is also completely instrumental, which is a first for Transfolmer. Without Transfolmer’s dark voice to guide us, his sound reaches a higher abstraction level and is more open to personal interpretation. Less song, more scape.
This album is only available as a paid download, but you can listen to a stream of the whole thing for free if you like. Check it here!
Tomorrow (November 7, 16:00 hrs.) the street art expo ‘City Of Dreams‘ opens in Havenkwartier Deventer. Check the website for elaborate information on this event, organised by Studio Wonder. Personally I’m already very impressed with the paintings/drawings by Joram Roukes, but the rest also promises to be exquisite.
Besides this grand expo there is going to be a shop with e.g. some custom made sneakers by the artists. Today my label esc.rec. was invited to place some esc.rec. releases in the shop aswell. I’ll bring a selection based primarily on artwork esthetics (like this one). Seems fitting. See you at the opening tomorrow or check the expo later (but no later then November 29)…
Some time ago I designed this logo and website for OE-DA! (Overijselse Erfgoed Design Award). Today (Wednesday October 20, 17:00) the winners of OE-DA! 2010 will be anounced in Museum Twentsewelle in Enschede. You’re invited! The OE-DA! publication ‘Over Erfgoed en Design’ is presented the same day.
I was asked to design the OE-DA! Prize Cup (and some of those larger than life cheques) to present to the OE-DA! winners. So here’s the sneak preview:
It’s made out of polished silver and wood. I’m quite proud to say that I did most of the silverwork myself. Many thanks to Jeannette Knigge at KunstGoud for showing me how, providing all the necessary help, tools and sponsoring.
Update: And the winner is… (drumroll)… Jasper Hilkhuijsen with his game ‘Rijksmonumentenjacht’! Here he is (with the OE-DA! Prize Cup) on RTV Oost:
Art is a way to engage people. To accomplish this best, I develop and combine my expertise and skills in different area's. I readily explore new territory if needed.
Best of both worlds. I can look at a website from a design point of view AND from a technical point of view. I often collaborate with other artists, designers or developers.
