MAD Fest

The man behind MAD Fest, Peter Kortleve (Shortlife), is a graphic designer by profession and music lover by nature. During one of his daily quests for inspiration on the net, he stumbled across a great festival in Cleveland (USA). Because that is quite far from his home, he sent a tweet out into the world with the message that something like that should take place in his hometown Deventer. Within a few moments there was an enthusiastic response by various creative thinkers, including Annedien Hoen, Mano Scherpbier (director of Burgerweeshuis) and myself.
After several meetings, with just the four of us extensively brainstorming the possibilities of a festival about Music, Art and Design (MAD) in Deventer, Annedien and me stepped back and Peter was asked to come up with a good program. And now here we have it: MAD Fest!
Having fueled the spark that started this festival, I am happy to receive a MAD Backer Pass, which allows me to enjoy this great line-up for free, together with other supporters and sponsors. But you should come too! Well worth it!
All this somewhat reminds me of my modest roll in fueling the spark that became Into The Great Wide Open a few years back. I hope MAD Fest becomes equally successfull!
